Epilator Works. A Personal Story About Epilating.

During one of our many discussions on different hair removal techniques, one of my very good friends revealed that she has tried almost every hair removal technique in the books – wax, shaving, tweezing- for the removal of unwanted hair from the body parts such as back, hands, legs, armpits, lips, face and those “private” areas of the body.

Not until discovering the technique of epilating, which she now opts for on a wide scale for removing hair, did she realize a significant change not only in her personal but professional life. Wow!

She found that her colleagues started giving more priorities to her in the workspace. She also found a boost in her confidence which grabbed the attention of her seniors and she got a promotion in no time.

In addition to this, she also found that Harry was falling in love with her more with every passing day. She was extremely happy with her life after she began to epilate.

What are epilators?

An Epilator is known to be a small electrical device that stands out of the ordinary in removing hair from various parts of the body from their roots.

This device is effective for the removal of hairs by grasping as well as pulling them from the hair follicles. The mode of operation of these devices is quite similar to the manual tweezers.

The significance difference is that it functions with the aid of the high-speed motor which ensures a faster and more effective removal of hair.

However, there are few products, such as the Braun Epilator for Women which are equipped with 20 tweezers and aid in the removal of hair to give satin silk and hair-free skin.

Benefits of using epilators

There is a wide array of reasons why I join my friend in recommending the use of epilators, instead of other traditional hair removal techniques.

After trying a bunch of hair removal techniques myself, I found that the results of hair removal last longer, when compared to the other techniques. There were also numerous other benefits of using these products:

Effective

Once you get accustomed to using epilators, you can count on them as the most effective and fastest process to remove the unwanted hair from the different parts of the body.”

Epilators have become an integral part of not only my friend’s beauty and care regime but mine as well.

Reducing the growth of hair

My friend, Meghan, also noticed that after the regular usage of the epilators, the hair growth cycle reduced significantly.

The hair that starts growing back after epilation is also much thinner. The growth of the hair decreased manifolds with the use of these products on a wide scale. How great!

A prominent reason why this technique is now the preferred one, in comparison to the other hair removal techniques is that it is much safer.

Owing to the device’s high flexibility, it ensures a hair-free experience without the need to use creams, waxes, or any additional devices.

Types of epilators

A variety of epilators are now available on the market but the majority of them operate almost in a similar fashion.

However, it is always good to have choices because our bodies differ. Let me help you decide on your choice epilator. Here are the different kinds of epilators, present in the market:

Spring epilators

They were the first and commercially available epilators, available in the market. They are equipped with rotating coils that are known to open and then close, after the trapping of hair between the pulling of hair and the coils.

They boast of lower speed settings for hair removal owing to which it is recognized to be more painful, in comparison to the other hair removal techniques.

Disc epilators

They are another worth mentioning. They come with several rotating discs which are known to be angled. While they are rotating, they come together for grasping and lifting the hair.

After this, the removed hair is released after they angle at a distance from one another. These products are similar to the spring epilators of the old style.

They include a vast array of discs, which are found to resemble the coil.

These products differ, according to the total count of the disc pairs. Few of the epilators come with few rotating discs which ensure a better hair removal process.

On the other hand, few of these products include a bunch of discs to remove unwanted hair from the larger parts of the body easily and faster.

Cordless/ Corded

You can also find corded and cordless epilators, available in the market. As the epilators are attached to the cord, you need to stay a bit close to the outlet.

The cordless epilators, on the other hand, are powered by a battery and therefore allow you the freedom to be where you prefer or feel more comfortable getting rid of that unwanted hair. Awesome!

Tweezer epilators

Tweezer epilators such as Lifetop Professional Portable Facial Hair Remover Electric Tweezer Epilator utilizes a wide assortment of discs for the removal of unwanted hair.

This product comes with a three-disc hair removal system. In addition to this, it is equipped with three different discs that are attached to the fixed disc, which get surrounded with the aid of the two angled discs.

Moreover, the fixed disc, present in such epilators ensures hassle-free removal of hair. Besides this, this product boasts bi-directional heads which are capable of pulling the skins before the discs grab for the removal of hair.

Also, they include a plethora of three-disc heads. The bi-directional heads of the tweezer epilators are known to be offset slightly. They are known to be effective to remove hair effectively with every pass.

This design is beneficial in removing shorter and superfine hair easily. These epilators keep getting better!

Wet, Dry and wet/dry epilators

Doing my research I found that three different types of epilators, available in the market, include wet epilators, dry epilators, and wet/dry epilators.

Among them, the wet/dry epilators such as Panasonic ES-ED90-P Wet/Dry Epilator and Shaver have become the most popular choice.

You can make use of epilators during the shower. The Gentle Epilator Head of this device is useful in removing unwanted hair from those sensitive private parts of the body.

Does the epilator hurt?

Removing hair by any technique is going to hurt and the use of epilators such as the Braun Epilator for Women will.

But since you can remove the hair from its roots, and the growth of the hair is reduced considerably, it can be said that the pain is worth it.

Good to note however, is that the pain is also reduced as you continue the use of the epilator. Here are the primary reasons why epilators may hurt during the removal of hair:

The hair might be too long

I learned that Epilators are not the smart choice for grasping too long hairs. This I learned the hard way, unfortunately.

Even if they are capable of grasping the hair, there are chances that they might get trapped between your skin and the stationary disc.

It might result in painful pulling sensation as the hair is not going to be pulled away fast enough. Moreover, trimming the hair of shorter length reduces the pain considerably while epilating.

Sensitive skin

Robin, a newcomer to epilation, has extremely sensitive skin and she finds an irritation in the skin along with pain while epilating.

No need to be too worried. She makes use of numbing creams such as Ebanel Retinol Cream before starting the process of epilating.

These creams are beneficial in soothing and calming the skin, and reducing the pain, significantly. You can utilize creams if you too have extreme sensitive skin.

Thick hair

If a person has excessive hair on the face or other body part, the use of epilators can cause a lot of pain.

It is because the epilators might need to work harder at pulling the thicker and longer hair or removing it.

Thus, if you have thicker hair, it is better to prepare the skin at first, by exfoliating it.

In such a case, it is recommended to make use of an exfoliating scrub such as Aveeno Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Exfoliating Daily Facial Scrub along with a Loofah for the removal of dead skin, before exfoliating it.

In addition to this, it also makes the skin smoother by which you can remove the hair from the roots. This step is crucial for hydrating and moisturizing the skin so that the hair can be removed with little to no pain at all.

Another best alternative is to shave the part of the body, a few days before epilating it. As the hair begins to grow, after shaving, you can use the epilators to remove them from the roots.

Excessively dry or cold skin

In case the skin is excessively dry or cold, it is an indication that the hair follicles will be tightened around the hair shaft.

It will lead to a rise in the pain if you try to glide the device on the excessively dry or cold skin. It is possible to bring a reduction in this by taking a hot shower.

Besides this, you can consider applying a warm compress to the specific part of the body before you begin to epilate.

You should also ensure to dry the skin properly to experience a pain-free hair removal process.

Tips to use the epilators

Certain steps are involved during the use of the epilator. As you follow such steps, it will definitely reduce the pain, which might occur during epilating and offering a hassle-free hair removal process.

Preparations before use

You are sure to experience an amazing epilating process if you go for a hot bath before starting the process.

This heat is useful in softening the follicles and hair which results in clean and hassle-free removal of hair. Besides this, it helps in breaking the dry brittle hair off from the hair follicles.

If you try exfoliation gently and regularly, it can be beneficial for the removal of dead skin which will prevent the capabilities of the epilators for grasping the hairs more efficiently.

It will lead to the cleaner and hassle-free removal of hair.

Make sure to glide the epilators against the direction of the growth of hair

Hair will be lifted easily as you move the epilators against the direction of the growth of hair.

If you are a person who encounters hair growth in several directions, you need to make passes in several directions to ensure that all the hairs from the specific parts have been removed.

Holding the skin

If you want to enjoy a painless hair removal experience, you can consider holding the skin taut. Hence, you should make sure to hold the skin and work the same in the smaller sections.

It is effective in the easier and faster removal of hair, thereby reducing the pain significantly.

Choose the right speed

Epilators are known to rotate at different speeds. Hence, you need to keep in mind that the discs need to make a full rotation while picking the hairs from the roots.

If you try to glide the product across the skin too fast, you will not be capable of removing all the hair or you might need to make multiple passes to ensure a full hair removal.

Hence, you need to spend some time understanding the speed, at which the epilators will function more effectively. Hence, you can accomplish the hair removal process in the blink of an eye.

Stay consistent

It is recommended to make use of epilators regularly and consistently for the reduction of the growth and thickness of hair over the due course of time.

You should refrain from running the epilators over the surface of the larger areas such as back or leg too fast.

However, according to the many friends I now have epilating, you will be capable of witnessing effective results as you work on the smaller areas and make use of constant pressure, speed along with several passes.

A lot of women enjoy a permanent hair removal with the use of the epilators. You will get smooth and hair-free skin with the use of epilators.

These products are being chosen on a wide scale to add to the beauty and constant skin care that many females engage in. These products are known to be the best for hair removal.

Conclusion

Though epilators might hurt a lot, preparing the skin properly is considered to be the ideal option for enjoying a pain-free hair removal experience.

You can also consider taking painkillers before you start using an epilator if you are one that can tolerate no pain at all. Hope you don’t have to though!
