How Long Do Epilator Results Last?

How long do epilator results last is a frequently asked question I often come across, once I share with people that I epilate.

To cut a long story short, the length of time that epilator results might last is somewhere between the period of 3 to 6 weeks. It, however, depends on certain factors such as genetics, hormones, rate of hair growth.

There are different kinds of hair removal techniques such as waxing, shaving, tweezing and each come with their own set of pros and cons. I adopted epilating for a fancy change and the results I found were amazing.

An applaud of thanks to epilators, that the hair-free glamorous skin is not a long lost dream to me anymore. How long do epilator results last?  If you are willing to know more about the length of time it takes for the hairs to reappear, I will share it with you here. Before I discuss the answer, in brief, I would like to tell you how epilators work.

So, how do the epilators work?

An epilator is essentially a small device that comes with a bundle of tiny tweezers that are known to open, pull and close automatically. Once you glide the same over the skin, the tweezers will be removing that unwanted hair from the specific part of the body by the roots.

Hence, the results last longer, in comparison to the other hair removal technique in which the hair is broken off from the surface of the skin.

However, you should make sure to adopt the right technique while epilating so that you can enjoy the smoother results. It is crucial to keep the head of the epilator at a right angle after which you should hold the skin taught for the effective removal of unwanted hair from different parts of the body.

However, this process is a bit challenging for some parts of the body, in comparison to the others. For instance, it is challenging to get the desired angle to epilate the underarms, as compared to the legs. If you fail to get the prerequisite angle, you might break the hair off, in place of removing it from the roots.

Hence, you will witness a faster regrowth of hair and the results will be no less different than shaving. As a result, it may require that you run a few practice sessions before you get used to it.

How long do epilator results last after epilating?

As mentioned earlier, the hair removal by epilators might last somewhere between the range of 3-6 weeks, which depend on the hormones, growth rate of hair, and genetics. In case you are using the epilator for the first time, you have to be prepared for the fact that your hair will grow sooner.

At times, owing to the natural cycle of hair growth, they might grow back sooner than expected. Not every hair is visible at once. Thus, once you have removed those visible hairs, the other lot is waiting to come up.

Do not be disappointed as it is completely natural and it happens with almost every woman. After using the epilators multiple times, you will find that the growth of the hair has reduced and thus you will be capable of reducing the epilation frequency on a wide scale. Thus, the time required for growing the hair back will enhance manifolds.

Do epilators remove hair permanently?

Epilation is a semi permanent way of removing unwanted hairs from the body. It removes hairs that are sometimes invisible to the eyes.

After epilating the hairs they tend to regrow in a matter of weeks. Frequent epilation damages the roots of the hairs overtime and causes the regrowth to become thinner.

On occasions they do not regrow at all. If you are looking for something more permanent consider laser treatment. Laser treatments are a permanent way of removing unwanted hairs because lasers destroy the root of the hair making them unable to regrow.

However, they tend to not remove the fuzz, because the hairs are very fine and similar in color to the skin, which make it difficult for the laser light to target them.

What causes epilator results to not last as long as expected?

If the epilation result does not last for weeks as promised, there might be a problem.

Rate of hair growth

The hair in various regions of the body is known to grow at various rates as the hair follicles become active at different times. For instance, the hair, present on the legs is found to have the slowest growth of hair whereas the hair, present on the face, is seen to have the fastest growth.

Hence, you will get longer-lasting results while epilating the legs, in comparison to the epilating of facial hair. Hence, you might need to choose different epilating sessions for various parts of the body.

Length of time spent epilating

As mentioned above, epilators are useful in pulling the hair by the roots. The longer you carry on the process of epilating the fewer hairs will regrow – because the hair follicles are destroyed overtime.

Ultimately, this will give you better results over time. Hence, it is essential to opt for constant hair removal techniques to witness fewer and finer growth of hair.

Genetics

Some people’s hair simply grows faster than others. it is just the luck of the genes.  The growth of hair is known to be hereditary and I am so fortunate that my hairs do not regrow very fast. Hence, if either or both of the parents are hairy, there is a chance that you may have inherited their hairy genes.  I know, some of us are just that lucky.

Age

Hair growth also tends to reduce with age. Hence, older women do not need to spend as much time as young women on epilating.

Hair growth cycle

Hair is known to have three different stages of growth. The stage in which you use the epilator has an impact on how long the epilating results are going to last. Hence, you need to choose the right epilating sessions to enjoy smoother and effective results.

The three different stages of hair growth include telogen, catagen, and anagen, which indicate the resting, the hair death and the growth period. You need to keep in mind that the stages of hair growth are not synchronized, indicating that you might require a few of the unwanted hair.

However, other hairs might begin surfacing in no time. it is essential to seek control of the cycle of hair growth to witness smoother results. Hence, you require interrupting the anagen phase of the hair follicles.

Wondering how to do this? You can opt for other hair removal techniques such as shaving before using the epilators. Once the hair regrows naturally after 3-4 weeks, you might use the epilators, as the hairs are in the later phases of the growth of hair.

Also, you require using the epilator more frequently during the first few sessions. For the first five to six sessions, you need to epilate once every week for interrupting the growth phase and ensuring that the hair is growing at the same rate. Once the first few sessions are over, you will be amazed to find that the regrowth hair is less coarse and finer and growing at a similar rate.

As you witness steady growth of hair, you can do epilating once in 3-4 weeks. You should however not wait for too long; else root might be strengthened owing to which removing the hair might be more painful.

Ineffective use of the epilator

Not using the epilator properly may cause it to snap the hairs instead of uprooting them.  This will cause you to be able to feel stubble after epilating instead of smooth skin. When the hair snaps, it gives similar results to shaving.

Which means that after 2 or 3 days you will be able to see the regrowth. With stubble after epilating, you should exfoliate your skin regularly to prevent ingrown hairs. After the hair regrows a bit you can try to epilate again.

Wondering how to delay the regrowth of hair after epilating?

If you want to reduce the hair growth with epilating, it is essential to epilate more frequently at the beginning as it will be effective in catching all the hair in various phases of the hair growth cycle. It is beneficial in synchronizing the majority of the hairs.

I am not telling you to epilate every other day. But, you need to do it, once every week for the first few sessions. Generally, hair takes 28 days for growing on average. However, in a singular cycle, it will be stacking together, and do not become out of synchronization.

This, you will be capable of enjoying hair-free skin for a longer period and spend reduced time in epilating in the near future. Hence, if you want to delay the growth of unwanted hair further, you can use shaving creams such as EOS Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream before you running the epilators over the skin.

Why do I love using epilator so much?

Though I have tried a plethora of hair removal techniques, epilating has amazed me the most. I have been able to enjoy hair-free and smooth skin until then. That satin silk and shiny skin is no more a dream now.

Want to know the best part? It does the better part of removing the unwanted hair without causing any damage to the skin. It only aims to pull out that hair and that too, right from the roots. With the aid of the epilators, you will be capable of enjoying a hair-free and smooth skin for a longer period, in comparison to the other hair removal techniques.

Another worth mentioning the reason why I am a fan of epilating is that it works wonders on those finer and shorter hair, thereby removing them from the root completely. I also figured out that the regrowth hair is coarse and finer and hence I epilate the skin less often now.

I do not require visiting the salon every other week nor have I to spend money every month for removing unwanted hair from different parts of the body. Besides this, the epilators are going to last for several years and you can enjoy a hair-free skin, without the need to leave the comfort of your couch.

Epilators are here to stay

After an exclusive personal experience, I might agree with the fact that an epilator will last for more than two years or more. However, you should make sure to epilate regularly to ensure an effective and hygienic epilating session. It will be crucial in keeping the skin hair free and safe.

You can pick an epilator such as Braun Epilator for Women which are equipped with a bunch of features to make epilating more comfortable and enjoyable. Take care of the epilator, and you can enjoy hair-free skin for a few years to come.

Exfoliate the skin to experience a hassle-free epilating

I make use of exfoliators such as O Naturals Anti-Cellulite Exfoliating Organic Coffee Arabica before epilating. As you exfoliate the skin, it will be easier for you to latch the product on to the hairs, thereby preventing any sort of ingrown hair.

Furthermore, it will remove the dead skin cells. It helps in having a closer grip on the hair roots, thereby preventing any sort of hair breakage. As you exfoliate the skin before using the epilators, you will be capable of pulling the hair by the roots effectively.

After regular epilating, you can enjoy glowing and smooth skin on an extensive scale. Hence, I recommend you to exfoliate the skin before using the epilator regulator. In short, you will be capable of getting smooth skin which will eventually last for almost four weeks, once you begin to use epilators.

Effectiveness of epilating, in comparison to the other hair removal techniques

I personally prefer epilating over other hair removal techniques as the process involves pulling the hair by the roots. Such kind of hair removal technique is known to last longer, in comparison to the other procedures in which the hair might break off. Still, few people might witness shorter results after epilating owing to breakage of the hair.

If you adopt the wrong epilating technique, you might break the unwanted hair, in place of removing them from the root.

In addition to this, the duration of your epilating also has an impact on how long, your skin will remain smooth and free from hair. If you are a beginner, you might experience faster growth of hair.

However, as time passes by and you continue to epilate regularly, you will eventually notice slower growth of hair and you may continue to epilate after longer intervals. As you begin epilating, you will find the regrowth of hair in the very first week and there will be longer hairs by the starting of the 2nd week.

Once the duration of a few months is over, you can enjoy a hair-free skin by epilating once every 3-4 weeks. It indicates that the hair follicles have been damaged and the hair grows back finer and slower.

Conclusion

With epilating, the hair will take longer to grow back, as compared to the other hair removal techniques. You will also find that the hair is finer and softer than ever. I must say that you might experience some discomfort as you begin to use the epilators.

However, with regular and consistent use, you will experience less pain and the growth of hair will be visibly less. You never have to worry again about ‘how long do epilator results last’ because it lasts long enough for us to enjoy flawless skin for weeks.
